Beginner’s Guide to Novomatic Slots
When you check a casino with Novomatic games, you’ll find a rich selection of about 500 titles. I’ll tell you what I find noteworthy about them to save you time and energy.
Their Bread & Butter
Slots make up almost the entire Novomatic casino games portfolio.
Revamped Versions of Novomatic Classics
When I first visited a Novomatic casino, I couldn’t understand why there were so many Books of Ra and Sizzling Hot Deluxe. I soon learned that it’s sort of a trademark thing for the studio.
The Drill
Novomatic often launches new versions of its fan-favorite classics with extra mechanics on top of the usual gameplay.
For example, I found the original Book of Ra hard to enjoy due to its outdated graphics and limited features. However, its “sequels” are far more fun to me, especially these 3:
- Book of Ra Deluxe 6: features an additional Extra Bet mechanic, which activates an extra reel for improved win potential and unlocks 6-of-a-kind wins.
- Book of Ra Magic: adds the chance to win 10 free games with up to 9 randomly selected special symbols that expand during bonus rounds.
- Book of Ra Mystic Fortunes: every spin gives you a chance to get something from a progressive jackpot pool (the Grand Jackpot can pay up to 10,000x your bet).
Special Novomatic Features: Progressive Jackpots Galore
Novomatic has come up with a couple of slot series that incorporate proprietary jackpot mechanics, including:
- Diamond Link: As you play, you collect symbols to fill up a meter. Once it’s full, you trigger a free spins feature, giving you a shot at 1 of 4 jackpots.
- Thunder Cash: It’s Diamond Link on steroids; it works similarly, but it adds a Lock and Spin mechanic that can give you more Free Spins.
- Cash Connection: Links multiple games to a shared jackpot, giving you the same odds of winning no matter which game you choose.
Best part? Novomatic added these to the classics, too. For one, Cash Connection: Book of Ra exists.
My Honest Take on Novomatic Slots
I appreciate the flexibility Novomatic offers with its wide range of games, especially with shared jackpot pools that make every spin exciting.
However, I feel the company relies heavily on nostalgia, placing most of its focus on tapping into players' fond memories of older slots.
While I enjoy the fun and winning potential of their newer games and am always eager to try out the latest free Novomatic games, I can’t help but feel let down by the lack of thematic variety. I’ve had enough of the fruit, adventure, and Egypt-themed games.
If you also crave more diversity, I recommend trying Foxium or Fantasma Games slots.
